Behind Turkey Run Inn
Overview

Turkey Run State Park is located on State Road 47 just east of US 41 in West Central Indiana. You'll be amazed that you are still in Indiana when you walk the trails and view the natural geologic wonders of this park. The park contains deep sandstone ravines and stands of virgin forests surrounding the beautiful Sugar Creek. The park also contains the Lieber cabin which commemorates the contributions of the father of Indiana's state park system.

Mansfield sandstone is the type of rock that forms the cliffs of Turkey Run State Park. Thousands of years ago, flowing water deposited sand which became sedimentary rock through pressure and cementation. Then the weather began to remove the sandstone. The last ice age was the main factor that helped to shape the sandstone into the gorges we see today.

In addition to hiking, Turkey Run's facilities include: cabins, campground, camp store, inn accommodations, cultural arts program, fishing, meeting & conference rooms, nature center, planetarium, naturalist services, picnicking, saddle barn, shelters, swimming pool, and tennis courts, fishing, picnic areas, the Lusk Home, and a log church.

The log church, located just behind the Turkey Run Inn, was originally constructed in 1923. It remains as a reminder of the religious background of the people who used to live here. Non-denominational services are still conducted during the summer every Sunday morning at 10:00AM.
